Delhi Capitals batter Mitchell Marsh has been ruled out of the remainder of the Indian Premier League 2024 due to a hamstring injury. Marsh had travelled back to Australia to treat the partial tear in his right hamstring and will reportedly not make a return to the Indian cash-rich league.

Marsh played four games for Delhi Capitals in the ongoing season of the tournament and got injured during their fourth outing against the Kolkata Knight Riders. Marsh's injury is a major concern for Australia too as he is the leading candidate to lead them in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024.

DC head coach Ricky Ponting all but confirmed that Marsh will not come back for the tournament again. "I don't think he'll be coming back. There's a certain cut off point with replacement players. Cricket Australia were keen to have him at home to start his recovery process and we sent him back as soon as we could," Ponting said on Monday.

"They've been managing his rehab for a couple of weeks now. I spoke to him the other day and it seems it's taken a little longer than he first thought to get over it. I don't think the T20 World Cup would be an issue," he added.

Marsh was not in good form during 2024. In the four matches he played, Marsh scored 61 runs and picked a solitary wicket in the three innings in which he bowled in.
